Inetum CEO Jacques Pommeraud Signs Open Letter Concerning AI Regulation in Europe

Alongside France's former Secretary of State for Digital Transition and Electronic Communications, Cédric O, and over 120 French and European economic actors, Inetum's CEO Jacques Pommeraud has signed an open letter to leaders of the European Commission, European Council, and European Parliament.

This letter conveys their concern about Europe's technological sovereignty and competitiveness following the latest developments in the European Union's Artificial Intelligence regulation bill (EU AI Act).

As the head of a global group and a European leader in digital services and solutions, Pommeraud joins several economic actors to discuss the risks of irrational regulation of Artificial Intelligence, specifically the so-called 'generative' AI.

In Pommeraud's view, excessive regulation of this technology would hinder the innovative capacities of European companies and potentially encourage the relocation of those who want to escape an overly restrictive regulatory framework. While the need to control the use of this technology is undeniable, this open letter encourages a moderate and collaborative legal framework that makes AI a positive lever for the performance and competitiveness of European companies.

The stakes are high, especially for digital companies like Inetum, to continue to innovate and attract and retain the best talents and skills in this technology.
